This summer, the 23rd edition of the flower carpet is in Brussels.
1680 m2 puzzle
The Flower Carpet is 70 m long and 24 m wide. 1,680 m2 of begonias, dahlias, grass and bark. One hundred volunteers install the carpet in less than six hours. Brussels’ first Floral carpet was created in 1971 and has been the center of attention in the Grand Place every two years since 1986.
Additionally, the City of Brussels is the largest municipality and historical center of the Brussels Capital Region and the capital of the Flemish Region and Belgium. The City of Brussels is also the administrative center of the European Union, as it hosts several important EU institutions in the European Quarter.
If you’re a history buff with an interest in any of the World Wars, Belgium has millions of sites to keep you busy during your visit.
Bruges, the capital of West Flanders in northwestern Belgium, attracts attention with its canals, cobblestone streets and medieval buildings. The port of Zeebrugge is an important center for fishing and European trade. Located on Burg square in the city centre, the 14th-century Stadhuis (Town Hall) features an ornate, carved ceiling. Nearby Markt Square features a 13th-century bell tower with 47 bells and an 83-meter tower with panoramic views. Bruges is one of the most popular medieval cities in Europe, especially after the movie In Bruges shed light on it. Busloads of people come here for short trips to take photos of the canals and buildings.
